The Unplanned Beginning
The origin of these flower paintings lies in a moment without a plan. What began as an intuitive drop of paint slowly grew into an organic whole of shapes and colours. The flowers found their own rhythm; I simply followed.
A Changing World
But as the work grew, the world around us changed as well. 2020 brought silence where there had once been movement, distance where closeness should have been. That year, I said goodbye to my grandmother. The flowers became heavy with meaning — a quiet ode, a final tribute. The painting I want to give you flowers was filled with energy, gratitude, and grief. It was a piece that knew more than I could put into words.
Setting the Work Aside
After that, I set the series aside for a while. Life moved on, but people’s reactions stayed with me: “Do something with this, it moves me.” Still, I couldn’t find the right moment to continue, until loss returned to my life. Friends who passed away. Grief that demanded images instead of words. From that necessity, I found my starting point again: the flowers became a language once more, a way to transform farewell and memory into strength.
The Paintings Find Their Way
And as I created more flower paintings, I noticed that they almost instinctively found their way to others. They sold quickly — beautiful, yet it felt as if the deeper story remained untold. That brought me to the next step: Flower Theory.
